Presentation | 6:30 PM

The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), a federal statute that became effective January 1, 2024, requires many business entities to report information about their beneficial owners and other individuals involved in the entity formation process. While the primary goals of the CTA are to combat illicit activities such as money laundering and other crimes often committed through the use of “shell” entities, the CTA will have a profound impact on many small businesses. In addition, while entities like family limited partnerships and LLCs have become common estate planning tools, clients who have created, or are thinking of creating such entities, likely need to file beneficial ownership reports going forward. This program will focus on what entities are affected, and not affected, by the CTA, as well as what their reporting obligations may be.”

Maureen focuses her practice on estate planning, estate and trust administration, and wealth planning. In connection with her estate planning practice, Maureen has particular experience representing business owners. She also appears in the Orphans’ Court on behalf of trust and estate clients.
